The Benedictine University women's basketball team separated themselves from Mount Mary in the second quarter to record an 85-56 non-conference victory on Monday night.
Leading by just three points with 7:14 remaining in the first half, Benedictine embarked on an 11-0 run to lead by 14 at 32-18. Three different players recorded baskets in the run, which opened with a
Makenzie Carroll layup and ended with a triple from
Olympia Kokkines. Benedictine took a 38-24 lead into the half. Kokkines keyed a 10-0 run in the third which saw the lead extend to 22 points as Benedictine outscored the hosts 22-12. Benedictine led by as many as 31 points in the fourth, pulling away for the win.
Benedictine held a 49-28 lead on the glass while posting 36 points in the paint, 28 on the break and 24 off turnovers. Benedictine shot 40.8 percent in the contest. Four players reached double digits in the win led by 20 from
Allison Jarvis, who was 7-of-12 from the field an 5-of-7 from deep. Benedictine made 13 threes in the contest. Kokkines scored 16 off the bench while
Alexis Schueler added 11 and Carroll 10.
Benedictine (5-6) hosts Concordia Chicago on Wednesday night.
