The Benedictine University women's basketball team did not trail in cruising to a second consecutive victory, besting Concordia Chicago 92-42 at home on Wednesday night.
Allison Jarvis opened the game with a three-pointer to put Benedictine ahead on the first sequence of the game. Benedictine used several mini runs to open a double-digit lead and held a 20-8 edge after the opening 10 minutes. Benedictine scored the first 11 points of the second quarter to extend the lead to 31-8 by using hot shooting. Benedictine led 48-23 at halftime and really pulled away in the third, allowing just three points over the first six minutes of the quarter, outscoring the guests 25-9.
Benedictine finished the game shooting 54.8 percent, tallying better than 50 percent in the first three quarters. The team was also 11-of-22 from three-point range and held a 45-32 advantage on the glass. Benedictine forced 23 turnovers which led to 34 points. The team also posted 42 in the paint and 25 on the fast break. Six players reached double digits in the win led by 18 from
Hailey Bachmann, who added nine rebounds. Jarvis scored 15 while
Alexis Schueler,
Makenzie Carroll and
Megan Duzansky all posted 12. Schueler dished nine assists without a turnover while Carroll grabbed eight boards.
Olympia Kokkines notched 11 off the bench.
Benedictine (6-6, 2-1 NACC) heads to Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.
