Men's Basketball Opens Conference Play with Win

The Benedictine University men's basketball team opened the home and conference portion of the schedule by taking down visiting Aurora.

THE DETAILS

The opening 10 minutes of the half were back-and-forth as most of the first half was played with either team within six points
- A layup from Nathan LaPlant put Benedictine ahead 34-28 with 4:17 left in the first 
- Aurora pulled within one late but Benedictine took a six-point lead into the half
- The lead swelled to 15 after two free throws from Jakeem Cole as Benedictine opened the second half with a 9-0 run
- Benedictine led by 19 in the second half as Aurora pulled no closer than 10 the rest of the way

Four players reached double figures for Benedictine led by a game best 20 from Aidan Werth, who was 7-for-10 from the field
- Ryan Tucker added 19 points and Cole added 11
- Noah Mason posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, electrifying the crowd with a pair of dunks
- Benedictine shot 50 percent in both halves
- Both teams finished with 45 rebounds
