The Benedictine University women's basketball team did not trail in rolling to a victory over Lakeland at home by an 82-46 count, avenging a previous loss this year.
Benedictine scored the first three points of the game and did not look back, opening a 12-point advantage with 1:47 left in the opening quarter on a triple from
Olympia Kokkines. The basket was part of a 10-0 run to close the first as Benedictine led 27-10. Benedictine led by as many as 28 in the second and took a 44-20 lead into the half. Benedictine continued to lead by 20+ in the second half, taking as big as a 38-point advantage at 82-44.
The team outscored Lakeland in every quarter and overcame 26 turnovers. Benedictine finished the game shooting 55.8 percent after making 10-of-12 attempts in the first quarter. Benedictine recorded 26 points off 21 Lakeland turnovers.
Alexis Schueler led all scorers with 20 points.
Makenzie Carroll tacked on 16 with Kokkines adding 14 and
Allison Jarvis 11.
Benedictine (10-9, 6-4 NACC) hosts Edgewood on Wednesday night.
