The Benedictine University women's basketball team held off a fourth quarter rally to record a 68-61 conference road victory at Illinois Tech on Thursday night.
Illinois Tech led for most of the opening quarter, heading into the second up 18-15. Down by six an 8-0 run opened with a three from
Olympia Kokkines put Benedictine ahead. The lead grew to six and Benedictine was in front 36-32 at the half. Benedictine came out strong to open the second half, leading by as many as 18 in the third. The hosts finished the game by turning momentum, using a 7-0 to pull within the final total.
Benedictine shot over 50 percent in the second and third quarters and finished at 38.8 percent. The team also held a commanding 52-32 edge on the glass.
Hailey Bachmann paced Benedictine with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Makenzie Carroll logged 13.
Benedictine (12-10, 8-5 NACC) hosts Alverno on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.
