The Benedictine University women's basketball team celebrated senior
Marissa Hanley by cruising past visiting Alverno 102-35.
Benedictine scored the first five points of the game on a
Hailey Bachmann three and a layup from
Allison Jarvis. Alverno hung around for much of the opening quarter but a 12-2 run to finish put Benedictine in the driver's seat for the rest of the game. Benedictine led 56-18 at the half and 83-24 after three.
Benedictine shot 50 percent for the game, finishing over 50 percent in three quarters including 61 percent in the second. The team connected on 11 three-pointers. Jarvis and
Olympia Kokkines led five players in double figures with 17. Hanley was 6-for-7 from the field, logging a career best 15 to go with seven rebounds and four assists.
Addison Bryant notched 13 with nine rebounds and Bachmann collected 12. Benedictine scored 35 points off turnoversand held a 56-30 edge on the glass.
Benedictine (13-10, 9-5 NACC) travels to Rockford on Wednesday with the season winding down and conference tournament seeding on the line.
