Playing some of the toughest conference games early in the schedule the Benedictine University baseball team suffered a sweep at the hands of Aurora with shutouts in each game.
AURORA 4, BENEDICTINE 0
Aurora scored twice in the first inning and overcame a big game from
Kyle Campbell to win the opener. Benedictine hit into a pair of double plays at inopportune times. Campbell finished 3-for-4 with a double and a steal as Benedictine managed just five hits.
Austin Pizer threw five innings, walking two and striking out four.
JT Adams logged the final three innings.
AURORA 12, BENEDICTINE 0
Another early lead stuck for the hosts but a 10-spot in the fifth put the contest away. Just the runs in the first inning were earned. Five pitchers appeared in the contest. Benedictine mustered just three hits in the game two defeat.
Benedictine (9-8, 1-3 NACC) has made a schedule change and will now host Lakeland on Friday at 2pm in a conference double.
