The Benedictine University baseball team scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a 5-4 win over regional power Buena Vista in Florida on Friday.

Benedictine jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the third on a pair of RBI groundouts from George Betevis and Zach Fell. Buena Vista scored three times in the fifth to take the lead and added another run in the eighth to lead 4-2. The first two batters in the bottom of the ninth were retired before Justin Nonnenmann walked. Matt Santarelli was hit by a pitch and Kevin Butler singled home a run to draw Benedictine within 4-3. Betevis singled home the tying run and Kyle Campbell coaxed a bases loaded walk to secure the walk-off.

Benedictine won despite mustering only four hits, two of which came from Butler. Austin Pizer started and threw eight innings, allowing just three earned runs. Nathan Buehrer threw a perfect ninth with a strikeout to earn the win.

Benedictine (4-3) is now 3-2 in Florida and will face Grove City on Saturday.
