The Benedictine University softball team recorded their first conference sweep of the season, dispatching St. Norbert at home on Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 5, ST. NORBERT 0
Haley Barnes started a big day with a first inning sacrifice fly.
Mckenzie Johnson did the rest in the opener, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth. Johnson allowed just one hit while striking out five. Johnson helped her own cause with a two-run single in the second. Benedictine scored in four different frames. Johnson and
Morgan Bruno both posted a pair of hits as Benedictine notched seven.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 10, ST. NORBERT 2
Barnes homered twice and drove home seven of the 10 runs to ensure the sweep. St. Norbert scored in the top of the first but Barnes doubled home the tying run in the bottom of the inning. Down 2-1, Barnes drilled a go-ahead grand slam in the third and ended the game with a two-run homer in the sixth.
Jasmine Lozano worked 4.1 innings to earn the win.
Lauren Gallagher closed out the final 1.2. Barnes was 4-for-4 at the plate.
Breanne Deutscher finished with two hits and scored four times.
Victoria Duszynski also logged a pair of hits. Benedictine finished with 11 in the victory.
Benedictine (14-10, 3-5) will welcome Wisconsin Lutheran in a quick turnaround on Sunday afternoon.
