Box Score 2 By virtue of sweeping Wisconsin Lutheran on the road in a conference doubleheader the Benedictine University baseball team has now won six consecutive conference contests, scoring seven or more runs in every game.
BENEDICTINE 21, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 5
Benedictine took a wild opener. Benedictine scored four runs in the top of the first inning, three of which came on a bases loaded double from
Mike Budorick, the NACC Player of the Week. Wisconsin Lutheran came all the way back to tie the game at 5-5 before Benedictine exploded with seven runs in the fourth and eight in the fifth. Five different individuals drove home runs in the fourth with four accomplishing the same feat in the fifth.
Kevin Butler hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Benedictine took advantage of an error to continue piling on the runs.
Benedictine finished with 17 hits in the opener. Budorick drove home four and scored three times.
Nic Castrovillari plated three along with Tommy Jusi, Butler and
Kyle Campbell. All nine starters posted a hit.
Nicholas Rayyan earned his first collegiate win in relief, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings.
BENEDICTINE 7, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 2
Benedictine completed the sweep by using late offense again, scoring six runs over the final three innings.
JT Adams spun eight innings to move to 5-0 on the year, allowing just two runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Tied 1-1, a passed ball and wild pitch put Benedictine ahead 3-1 before
Zach Fell notched an RBI single to make the score 4-1. The lead grew to 6-1 when two unearned runs came across on a Jusi single.
Benedictine (17-13, 9-7 NACC) hosts Edgewood on Saturday.Â
