The Benedictine University softball team ran their win streak to eight with a conference sweep at Alverno on Wednesday. The win streak is currently the longest in the conference.
BENEDICTINE 10, ALVERNO 1
Six runs in the second inning enabled Benedictine to take a big early lead that would hold.
Jasmine Lozano logged an RBI single in the inning while
Morgan Bruno tallied an RBI double and the NACC Player of the Week,
Breanne Deutscher, added an RBI triple. The lead reached 10-0 behind a single run in the third and three in the fourth.
Mckenzie Johnson earned her seventh win of the year by tossing a complete game, striking out six and allowing just three hits.
Victoria Duszynski tallied three hits as Benedictine notched 11. Deutscher and Lozano both posted a pair.
BENEDICTINE 15, ALVERNO 2
Benedictine scored six runs in the first and utilized a seven-run fourth to ease the the sweep.
Haley Barnes stroked a two-run double in the first inning,
Lauren Bogard singled home a run and
Mia Giammarese added a two-run double. Barnes connected on a three-run homer as part of the fourth inning outburst.
Morgan Magnabosco picked up her third win in the circle, throwing four innings while striking out four. Barnes finished with three hits and five RBIs. Benedictine recorded 13 hits in the second contest.
Morgan Bruno, Lozano, Bogard and Giammarese all finished with a pair of knocks.
Benedictine (23-13, 12-8 NACC) continues to wind down the regular season with a visit to Rockford on Friday.
