The Benedictine University softball team kicked off the final weekend of the regular season with a road sweep at Rockford.
BENEDICTINE 5, ROCKFORD 0
Mckenzie Johnson spun a complete game shutout to claim her 14th win of the season, striking out six. None of the five runs scored by Benedictine came as a result of a hit. The team managed six hits and still claimed the opener. A throwing error allowed the first run to score in the third and another error enabled two runs to score in the fourth. Six different individuals notched hits in the win.
BENEDICTINE 5, ROCKFORD 1
Two wild pitches enabled Benedictine to break a scoreless tie in the sixth. Rockford scored in the bottom of the inning. The first run to score on a hit came in the seventh when Benedictine plated three runs.
Lauryn Olson singled home the first run.
Morgan Bruno and
Breanne Deutscher also tallied RBI singles in the frame.
Morgan Magnabosco worked into the seventh and earned the win. The offense again notched six hits. Deutcher logged two.
Benedictine (25-13, 14-8 NACC) wraps the regular season on Sunday by hosting Aurora.
