The Benedictine University baseball team allowed three runs over the final two innings and dropped an 8-7 decision to Marian in the opener of the NACC Tournament.
Marian opened the scoring in the top of the third with a single run. Benedictine tallied four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Kyle Campbell drew a bases loaded walk and
Nic Castrovillari drove home two with a single. Tommy Jusi capped the inning with an RBI fielder's choice. Marian scored four times in the sixth to take the lead but Benedictine responded with three in the bottom to lead 7-5.
Brennan Fisher doubled home the tying run. Castrovillari lifted a sacrifice fly and
Justin Nonnenmann drove home the final run with a single.
JT Adams started and worked 5.2 innings.
Steven Byrne worked 2.1 and
Austin Pizer worked an inning.
George Betevis notched three hits out of the leadoff position. Fisher and Castrovillari both logged a pair as Benedictine totaled 10.
Benedictine (25-16) plays an elimination game at 10:00am against Concordia Chicago.
