Softball Continues Strong Start with Two Wins

The Benedictine softball team continued its strong start to the Florida trip, defeating Ohio Northern University and Mount Saint Mary College in Kissimmee.

FINAL SCORE
Benedictine 8, Ohio Northern 0 (5 innings)

THE DETAILS
-Benedictine opened the scoring in the first innings when Alyssa Perkins delivered an RBI double to left center to score Haley Barnes
-The Eagles added another run in the second on an RBI single from Morgan Bruno that plated Victoria Duszynski
-Dusyzski added to the lead in the third innings with an RBI single to bring home Taylor Oppenhuis
-Benedictine extended the lead in the fourth when Bruno scored on a wild pitch before Barnes added an RBI
-The Eagles sealed the win with three runs in the fifth
-Mckenzie Johnson dominated in the circle, allowing just one hit in the shutout performance 

STAT LEADERS
-Alyssa Perkins went 2-for-4 with three RBIs
-Haley Barnes recorded two hits and two RBIs
-Victoria Duszynski added two hits and an RBI
-Mckenzie Johnson tossed a five-inning one-hit shutout with three strikeouts

THE DETAILS
-Benedictine jumped ahead in the first innings when Alyssa Perkins grounded out to bring home Morgan Bruno
-The Eagles added another run in the second as Bruno delivered an RBI single to score Jasmine Lozano
-Benedictine broke the game open in the fourth innings with 10 runs, capitalizing on several errors while collecting multiple run-scoring hits
-Olivia Mickelson added two more runs in the fifth with a two-run triple to extend the advantage
-Mount Saint Mary scored four runs across the fourth and fifth innings, but Benedictine closed out the run-rule victory

-Morgan Bruno went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored
