Baseball Scores Key Sweep

Battling for a conference tournament position, the Benedictine University baseball team tallied a key sweep on the road at Marian.

THE DETAILS
- Benedictine wasted no time in jumping ahead in the opener, scoring a run in the first and adding four in the second
- Mike Budorick singled home two runs in the second
- Marian was able to get on the board in the fourth but six runs in the sixth brought the game to an early finish
- Tommy Jusi, Jr. and Budorcik notched RBI singles in the inning while Matt Santarelli doubled home three
- The second game was a pitcher's battle until Benedictine broke through with six runs in the fifth
- Six different individuals drove home a single run in the frame
- Spencer Geake put an exclamation point on the win with a two-run homer in the ninth

STAT LEADERS
- Braden Behrens tossed a complete game to earn the win in the opener, allowing just one run on eight hits
- Hank Friedrich was 3-for-4 with three runs scored out of the leadoff slot
- Santarelli also notched three hits while Anthony Mitchell and Budorick posted two apiece 
- Conner Kendall tossed eight blank innings in the second game, allowing just three hits while fanning seven
- Connor Kehoe struck out a pair to finish the shutout
- Budorick added two more hits in the second game while Geake knocked in three
