Softball Rallies to Sweep Marian

The Benedictine softball team picked up a pair of wins over Marian at Heidkamp Field, using dominant pitching in game one and a late comeback in game two to complete the sweep.

THE DETAILS
-Benedictine struck early in the opener, scoring in each of the first three innings to take control
-A passed ball plated the first run before RBI singles from Morgan Bruno and Victoria Duszynski extended the lead
-Mckenzie Johnson handled the rest, tossing a complete-game shutout and allowing just two hits
-Marian jumped ahead early in game two, scoring four runs across the first two innings
-Benedictine chipped away with a run in the fifth and tied the game in the seventh
-Duszynksi delivered a clutch RBI double to even the score at 4-4
-In the eighth, Lauren Bogard came through with a walk-off RBI single to secure the sweep

STAT LEADERS
-Johnson struck out nine in a two-hit shutout in game one
-Morgan Bruno went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the opener
-Lauryn Olson collected two hits and scored a run in game one
-Duszynski led the offense in game two with three hits and two RBIs
-Olson added three hits and scored twice in the second game
-Bogard finished with three hits including the game-winner
-Benedictine totaled 21 hits across the doubleheader
