Men's Basketball 12/22/2010 8:56:52 PM Eagles Win Battle of Maple and Chicago Avenue BOX SCORE LISLE, Ill. – Three Benedictine players scored in double-figures to help lead the Eagles to a 70-61 win over North Central College in the Battle of Maple and Chicago Avenue on Wednesday night in the Dan and Ada Rice Center. The win extends the Eagles win streak to three games. Benedictine (5-4) jumped out to an early eight-point lead over the Cardinals (3-6) with layups from Cameron Snelling and Nate Green and two three-pointers from Dario Jokic. North Central would battle back and take a one-point lead with 10 minutes remaining but the Eagles offense was too tough, taking a 36-27 halftime lead. The Eagles stretched their lead to 12 early on in the second half with shots from Green and Jerrell Tribble and continued to out-shoot the Cardinals for the rest of the game and win the game 70-61. Green led BenU with 20 points and had five assists while Tribble had a season high 17 points, shooting 54 percent from the floor (7-for-13). Snelling picked up his second double-double of the year with 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, Benedictine was 24-for-53 from the field (45.3 percent) and forced 17 NCC turnovers. The Cardinals did out-rebound the Eagles 41-35. North Central's Landon Gamble led all players with 24 points. The men's basketball team is back in action next weekend when they compete in the Elmhurst College Tournament. The Eagles take on Calvin College at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, December 29.
