LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team won the first game in program history on Tuesday night, defeating the University of Dubuque 19-4 at the Sports Complex.
After Dubuque scored just 21 seconds into the contest, the Eagles went on a 10-0 run and never looked back. Dubuque scored again at the 12:38 mark, but the Eagles scored five more unanswered goals to close out the half. BenU would outscore Dubuque 4-2 in the second half as well.
For the Eagles,
Hannah Payne led the way with game-highs in goals (six), assists (two), ground balls (21), and face-offs (15-for-22).
Annette Dzielski tallied five goals of her own, bringing her season total to six.
McKall Pugliese added three goals as well. As a team, BenU outshot Dubuque 36-11.
Benedictine will take the field next on Monday, when they head to Berry College in Georgia for a 3:00 p.m. match.
