MEQUON, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team opened play in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference with a 22-5 road loss at Concordia Wisconsin.
Concordia Wisconsin scored the first three goals of the contest and did not trail in the game. The hosts scored seven times on free position attempts.
Samantha Link opened the scoring for Benedictine with 19:24 to play in the opening half.
Hannah Payne scored just over two minutes later following a Concordia Wisconsin tally to bring Benedictine within two goals at 4-2.
Concordia Wisconsin responded with nine straight goals including two in the final minute to lead 13-2 at the break. Payne,
Taylor Pugliese, and
Becca Gullett finished the scoring for Benedictine. Payne notched six groundballs in the game.
Lauren Mallo stopped five shots in the first half.
