LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team put together a second half rally but dropped a 13-10 decision to Augsburg.
Augsburg scored the first four goals of the contest.
Hannah Payne broke up the run before the visitors responded with three straight. Augsburg held a 7-2 advantage at the half.
Consecutive goals from
Samantha Link allowed Benedictine to battle within 7-4 early in the second half. Goals from Payne and
Gabby Rowe brought Benedictine within 8-6, but Augsburg scored three straight. Benedictine made a late push to pull within two goals but Augsburg held on for the win.
Benedictine was outshot 30-24 in the contest but did hold a 14-11 edge in draw controls. Payne scored five goals in the game with Link adding two.
Irsah Hayat and
Lauren Mallo split time in goal. Mallo made four saves with Hayat notching three.
Benedictine (1-4) hosts Robert Morris on Tuesday night.
