Box Score DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team suffered an 11-6 defeat at the University of Dubuque on Monday afternoon.
Dubuque opened the scoring on the first venture up the field. Benedictine answered with consecutive goals from
Samantha Link and
Gabby Rowe to take a 2-1 lead. The lead was the only advantage of the afternoon for the Eagles. Dubuque held a 6-3 lead at the half and scored six straight goals to hold a 10-3 advantage with just over 20 minutes.
Hannah Payne scored back-to-back tallies on free positions to break up the run, but Dubuque was able to hold on for the victory.
The game was played at Loras College on turf following heavy rain and snow. Benedictine held a 25-23 advantage in shots. Three individuals scored two goals each for the Eagles, Link, Payne, and Rowe.
Benedictine (1-11, 0-6 MWLC) faces North Central on the road Thursday night.
