Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team claimed their second straight conference win with a 16-6 decision at Fontbonne on Saturday afternoon.
Becca Gullett opened the scoring for Benedictine with 26:13 to play in the first. Fontbonne was able to even the score, but Benedictine struck for four consecutive goals to open a 5-1 edge.
Hannah Payne started the run with an unassisted tally at the 21:14 mark.
Gabby Rowe,
Samantha Link, and
Jackie Andrews also scored during the stretch. The Eagles led 7-4 at the half as Link tucked in a goal just before the buzzer. The second half opened with five straight for Benedictine from four different individuals as the lead quickly reached 12-4 and the Eagles were able to put the contest away.
Benedictine finished with 32 shots in the contest and 23 groundballs. Link and Andrews scored three times each while Payne, Rowe, and
Taylor Pugliese collected two apiece.
Lauren Mallo played the duration of the game in goal and made six saves.
Benedictine (3-12, 2-7 MWLC) closes the regular season with a Tuesday night contest at home with Loras at 7:00 p.m.
