Women’s Lacrosse Ready for Spring Trip

After opening a four-match road trip on Sunday, the Benedictine University women's lacrosse team will play two more matches away from home over Spring Break. The Eagles will travel south early next week, playing at the University of Dallas on Sunday and Oklahoma Baptist University on Tuesday.

At 0-4, Benedictine will look to earn its first win of the season on the trip. Benedictine played two matches in Michigan last weekend, falling to Olivet College 19-12 on Saturday and to Kalamazoo College 17-4 on Sunday. Despite the losses, Samantha Link had one of her best weeks as an Eagles, tallying eight goals in the two matches.

Sunday: at University of Dallas (1-3), 2:00 p.m.

A Division III Independent, the Lady Crusaders of the University of Dallas are in year six as a varsity program. UD has never finished with a winning record, but improved by four wins last season and posted its best season in school history with a 5-9 record.

This season, the Lady Crusaders are off to a 1-3 start. After combining for just eight goals in the first three matches of the season (all losses), Dallas exploded for 16 goals in a 16-2 victory of MWLC opponent Cornell College on March 8. The match against BenU will be Dallas' fourth of six straight at home.

Tuesday: at Oklahoma Baptist (6-0), 2:00 p.m.

The Bison of Oklahoma Baptist compete in the West Region of the National Women's Lacrosse League at the NAIA level. Three years into its inaugural season as a program, Oklahoma Baptist complied a 4-15 record in its two prior seasons.

However, the Bison have improve drastically in 2015, winning all six of its matches thus far. The Bison have defeated Midland University twice, Missouri Baptist University, Cornell, Dallas, and Hendrix College this season and have outscored opponents 71-45. OBC will compete against Georgetown College and Asbury University before hosting BenU.
