Box Score The Benedictine University men's basketball team played a conference game for the final time in the 2023 portion of the schedule, suffering a 97-85 setback in Wisconsin at Lakeland.
Lakeland led the entire game, tallying the first four points of the contest. The hosts utilized a 9-0 run early to open a double-digit advantage just five minutes into the game. Lakeland led by as many as 13 in the opening stanza and held a 46-37 edge at the break. Benedictine attempted to rally multiple times in the second half but Lakeland constantly answered. The deficit reached 20 on multiple occasions in the second.
Tanner Resch matched a career high with 22 points.
Nick Howard tallied a career best with 17 while
Drew Stokes logged 15 and
Cullen Cosme kicked in 10. Lakeland held a 42-30 advantage on the glass and notched 13 second chance points. Benedictine shot 41.9 percent in the contest while Lakeland connected on a 55.7 percent clip.
Benedictine (6-5, 3-2 NACC) plays again on Saturday night in a non-conference contest at Augustana in the first meeting between the two programs since 1997.
