The 16th-ranked Benedictine University men's volleyball team kicked off the 2024 season by celebrating the 2023 conference champions and scoring a sweep of visiting Adrian on Friday night.
Benedictine needed to come from behind in the third to finish the sweep, scoring four straight points to win the contest.
Benedictine hit .286 for the match including .462 in the second, using a balanced effort to grab the win.
Brayden Rice paced Benedictine with 10 kills while two-time All-American
Chase Olson added nine on 12 attempts.
Chandler Olson distributed 28 assists as Benedictine finished with 30 along with eight blocks four of which came from both
Chase Olson and
Eoin O'Toole.
Brannen Almarales led the defense with nine digs.
Benedictine (1-0) travels to #2 North Central next Saturday in the second annual Christian Staple Battle of Chicago/Maple.
