The 16th ranked Benedictine University men's volleyball team suffered their first loss of the year, dropping a three-set contest at North Central in the second annual Christian Staple Battle of Maple & Chicago.
Brayden Rice led Benedictine with nine kills. 
Chase Olson added seven. 
Eoin O'Toole totaled six blocks at the net. 
Spencer VanEngen dished 17 assists while 
Chris Radomski posted seven digs. Benedictine hit .228 for the contest including .400 in the third and final set.
Benedictine (1-1) hosts Illinois Wesleyan on Monday night.
