The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team tried hard to overcome an early deficit but suffered a 20-14 loss at home to Kalamazoo in non-conference play.
Kalamazoo scored the first six goals of the contest and led 12-3 late in the first half. Benedictine responded with the next four goals, drawing within 12-7 early in the third but could not convert further on a two-minute man-up situation. Benedictine notched three consecutive tallies late in the game but was able to only pull within 19-14 entering the final minute.
Benedictine won 20 faceoffs in the game with
Lance Kopecky finishing 14-for-21 with 12 groundballs.
Will Robinson and
Dylan Langley both scored four times.
Ben Zimmerman dished five assists and added a goal.
Colin Doyle and
James McDonald both recorded eight saves in goal.
Benedictine (0-3) hosts Augustana next Saturday.
