Carthage scored the first four goals of the game before the Benedictine University men's lacrosse team rallied in the opening quarter but could not overcome the hosts in a 19-9 loss on Wednesday.
Robert Schroeder tallied the first Benedictine goal with 6:45 left in the first quarter and four minutes later
Tyler Sarna evened the score. Benedictine tied the game headed to the half, but Carthage scored 14 goals in te second half to win.
Sarna scored three times while
Ben Zimmerman logged two goals and three assists.
Luis Hernandez also scored twice. Benedictine scored twice in man-up situations and picked up 29 groundballs while tallying 27 shots.
Colin Doyle recorded eight saves with
James McDonald stopping nine.
Benedictine (1-6) opens conference play on Saturday at Illinois Tech.
