The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team scored five goals in the fourth quarter but could not overcome an early deficit, falling 16-10 to visiting Calvin University in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.
Calvin scored the first five goals of the game, leading 4-0 after the first.
Aiden Elliott tallied the first marker for Benedictine on a feed from
Dylan Skura with 10:35 remaining in the half. The visitors led 8-3 at the break and held a 16-5 lead after three, scoring seven straight goals in the third. Benedictine caught fire in the fourth with
AJ Smerz and Elliott scoring twice along with
Luke Grant.
Both teams totaled 37 shots. Elliott and Grant both scored four times. Elliott added two assists.
Colin Doyle stopped seven shots in net.
Benedictine (0-3) heads to Augustana tomorrow for a makeup non-conference contest.
