Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics mourn the loss of 2024 graduate
Kevin Bushnell, who passed away on Friday. Bushnell was a two-time All-American and set the school and conference record for homers with 49. Bushnell helped lead the baseball program to their first ever NACC Championship in 2024 when the team reached the NCAA Regional for the first time since 2013. Bushnell also concluded his Benedictine career first all-time in runs and RBIs and ranks in the top-10 of nearly every hitting category.

Dear Benedictine University Community,

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share news of the passing of
Kevin Bushnell. Kevin passed away after courageously living with cancer for 10 months.

A 2024 graduate, Kevin was truly an exceptional Benedictine University student and athlete. Beyond his remarkable achievements on the baseball field, Kevin embodied the spirit of Benedictine through his resilience, dedication, and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. His presence enriched our community in many ways.

We trust that Kevin is now at peace in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father. On behalf of the entire Benedictine University community, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to Kevin's family, friends, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
