The Benedictine University softball team swept the weekly awards handed out by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as
Mckenzie Johnson was selected as the pitcher of the week and
Alyssa Perkins the position player of the week.
The team is off to a 5-1 start to the season in Florida.

Alyssa Perkins (Aurora, Ill.) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 2-8, 2026, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.
Pitcher --- Mckenzie Johnson, Sr., Benedictine University
Johnson, a senior, posted a 1-1 record with a 1.66 earned-run averaged and 17 strikeouts across three appearances as the Eagles opened their season in Florida. She took the loss in BenU's season opener against Anderson (Ind.), allowing three earned runs on seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out seven in 5-1/3 innings. Johnson rebounded to appear in both games on March 8, picking up the win in an 11-0, five-inning win over Carlow (Pa.). She struck out eight while allowing just one hit and one walk against the Celtics. Johnson also tossed the final two innings of the Eagles' 7-3 win over Thomas (Maine), retiring six of the seven Terriers she faced, including two by strikeout.
Position Player --- Alyssa Perkins, Jr., INF/DP, Benedictine University
Perkins, a junior infielder/designated player, opened her Benedictine career hitting 7-for-11 over four games as the Eagles opened with a 3-1 mark. She hit three doubles and a home run while driving in four. Perkins was also hit by a pitch twice, leading to a 1.825 OPS.
