LAKE FOREST, IL - 40 minutes was not enough to decide Saturday's contest between Benedictine and Lake Forest, not even 45 could decide it.
After 50 minutes and two overtime periods though, Benedictine prevailed snapping their 2-game losing streak defeating the hosting Lake Forest Foresters 70-66.
The Eagles needed a win in the worst way and while Lake Forest (2-7) had been a quality team throughout the season their 2-6 record coming into Saturday posed a great opportunity for Benedictine to get back to .500.
The back and forth contest saw no team take any big advantage, as Benedictine's largest lead of the night was 12.
After being down nine midway through the first, Benedictine (4-4) climbed back into the contest tying the game with five minutes left. The teams traded baskets before a tip-in by Lake Forest's Dayton Young brought the Forester advantage to five.

Cameron Snelling hit consecutive free throws on the next possession cutting the Lake Forest lead to three.
After a missed jumper from Lake Forest's Patrick Hanley, Benedictine's
Jerrell Tribble (6 points, 2 rebounds) rose up and hit a 3-pointer tying the contest with 36 seconds left.
With a chance to close the door on the Eagles, Travis Clark missed a jumper, but Jeff Beck grabbed the rebound and tried to put up a shot of his own but was blocked by Tribble bringing the contest into overtime.
Once there, the teams again traded baskets before both squads went ice-cold, missing three shots and turning the ball over on three straight possessions closing out the first overtime period.
The second overtime was all Benedictine as
Nate Green (10 points, 1 assist) got the scoring going with a two quick jumpers giving the Eagles a 3-point lead.
Rob Bridgeman hit one-of-two free throws to bring the lead to four.
Lake Forest was able to cut the deficit in half on a Travis Clark jumper but Michael Fahey's free throws with one second remaining maintained the victory for the now 4-4 Eagles.
Fahey lead the Eagles in scoring with 12 while Snelling (11 points, 8 rebounds) had another solid game, nearly picking up another double double on the year.
Dan Klecan (11 points, 6 rebounds) hit 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
