MILWAUKEE, Wis - The Benedictine University women's tennis team split its Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) matches last Saturday in the Wisconsin, as the team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering, 7-2, and lost to Concordia University (Wis.), 8-1. The Eagles are now 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the NAC.
Freshman
Lina Savickas had an nice day for BU at the No. 6 singles position, where she won both of her matches. Savickas topped MSOE's Marguerite Wellsten, 6-4, 6-3, and also earned a hard-fought three-set win versus Concordia's Callie Reinke, 4-6, 6-1 and 10-6 in the proset tiebreaker for Benedictine's lone win of the match against CUC.
Savickas was also victorious at No. 3 doubles against MSOE with teammate
Nicole Choinka.
Other winners for the Eagles in the MSOE match included
Ewelina Stachulak at No. 1 singles in a three-setter, followed by senior
Lisa Carrillo's straight-set win at No. 2 singles. No. 4 singles belonged to junior Andrea Oliva#, also in straight sets.
The tandem of Stachulak and Carrillo also won at No. 1 doubles for the final 7-2 score.
