The Benedictine University women's tennis team lost its season-opening match on Thursday afternoon, falling at Lake Forest College, 9-0. The Eagles are now 0-1 overall.
The powerful Foresters swept the visiting Benedictine team in straight sets in all six singles matches. At No. 1 singles,
Ewelina Stachulak lost 6-1, 6-2. No. 2 doubles player
Lisa Carrillo led 5-4 in her opening set before eventually losing the set 7-5 and then coming up short in the second set, 6-1.
At third singles, newcomer
Vivianna Iway fell, 6-1, 6-2 and third-year player
Andrea Oliva went down by 6-1, 6-1 scores at fourth singles. Two first-year players for the Eagles -
Leigh Martino and
Ashley Shall - lost the No. 5 and No. 6 singles competitions, respectively.
Lake Forest also won all three doubles matches.
