The women's tennis team began Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Saturday morning, defeating Marian University, 8-1, and Lakeland College, 8-0.
The win over Marian is the first time the Eagles have defeated the Sabres since joining the league. The No. 1 doubles team of
MaryClare Loughery and
Tiffany Wakim defeated their opponents 8-4 while the No. 2 and No. 3 teams were victorious 8-2.
In singles play, five of the Eagles were victorious, including No. 6 singles,
Nicole Choinka, who beat Bryanna Paradiso, 6-3, 6-3.
After the win over Marian, Benedictine traveled to Lakeland to take on the Huskies. All three doubles teams were victorious, including No. 2 doubles,
Lisa Carrillo and
Ewelina Stachulak who defeated Britteny Myska and Jenna Oberthaler, 8-0. The No. 3 doubles team of
Lina Savickas and
Nicole Choinka beat Alyssa Christensen and Stephanie Rebek 8-0.
No. 5 singles,
Lina Savickas, defeated Meribeth Mazzi 6-0, 6-0.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 8 when they take on North Central College on the road.
