LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University tennis team picked up two wins over Northern Athletics Conference opponents on Saturday morning. The Eagles defeated Marian University, 5-4 and Lakeland College, 6-3.
Benedictine lost two-of-three doubles matches but
Vivianna Iway and Neha Shukla were victorious at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-5. The Eagles came alive in singles play with
MaryClare Loughery winning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Iway and Shukla winning at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
Anna Savio won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 6 singles for the BenU victory.
In the second match of the day, the Eagles once again dropped two-ofthree doubles matches with Iway and Shukla again coming up with the win. In singles, Loughery was victorious at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4 and Iway and Shukla also beat Lakeland at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.
Anna Savio won at No. 5 and
Sanika Tolia won at no. 6.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 13 when they travel to Concordia University-Chicago for a 2:00 p.m. match.
