LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team overcame a 12-point deficit early in the second half to shoot down Aurora University 69-63 on Thursday night.
It took more than three minutes for Benedictine to score its first points as Aurora cruised to an early 6-0 edge. The visitors led almost the entire first half.
Jamison Montgomery buried a three with 7:30 remaining in the half to put Benedictine in front 19-18 for the only lead of the half. Aurora responded by using a 12-3 run to extend the lead to eight points after a Ryan Crow layup with 3:42 left in the half. The Spartans blocked six shots in the half and held Benedictine to just 26.7 percent shooting in building a 30-23 lead at the break.
Aurora scored the first five points of the second half to open a 35-23 edge before a quick 6-0 run sliced the lead in half. After an Aurora basket by Joel Iventosch to jump ahead 37-29 with 17:25 remaining, Benedictine embarked on a 9-0 run to move ahead 39-37. The run opened with a

Michael Woolf buried a three to hand Benedictine just its second lead of the night.
Down 43-41 at the midway point of the half, Benedictine rattled off seven straight to move ahead for good, leading by as many as seven points. Benedictine amassed 46 points in the second half and shot 54.8 percent to finish the evening at 41 percent.
Green paced Benedictine with 20 points, 15 of which came in the second half, while Woolf added 15 off the bench.
Raphael Oglesby also came off the bench to hit double figures with 10 points. The Eagles totaled 31 bench points and scored 18 points off 14 Aurora turnovers. Four Aurora (8-8, 4-4) players scored in double digits led by Ryan Crow's 19.
The Eagles (6-10, 5-4) have won two in a row for just the second time this season and will welcome Maranatha to the Rice Center on Saturday afternoon at 4:15 p.m.
