On Saturday, the Benedictine University tennis team fell in the Semifinals of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. Edgewood defeated Benedictine 5-0 at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Eagles fell in all three doubles competitions, as the Micah Goyao and
Kam Haifleigh dropped a hard-fought match 8-4. In the singles competitons, Maria Branda was defeated in the first slot (6-0, 6-0), and
Anna Savio fell in the fifth slot (6-1, 6-0). The remaining singles competitions went unfinished.
In his first season as Head Coach, Johnathon Schmidt's Eagles team finished with a record of 7-8 overall and 6-6 against conference opponents. It was the first time the Eagles reached the NACC Tournament since the 2010-2011 season, when the team placed second and advanced to the tournament championship.
