The Benedictine University tennis team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Friday, as the team lost to Aurora University 6-3 at the Aurora Vaughan Center.
Aurora was able to defeat BenU by taking four of the six singles contests and two of the three doubles contests. For BenU,
Andrea Goyao moved to 8-1 on the season with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the team's top singles spot, winning her fourth consecutive match. In the fifth spot,
Feena Chirayath was victorious 6-1, 6-1, also winning her fouth straight match and improving to 7-2 on the season. In doubles, BenU's top pairing of
Andrea Goyao and
Kam Haifleigh won 8-4.
Benedictine is now 6-3 on the season, and the loss to Aurora puts the Eagles and Spartans in a tie for fourth place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. BenU already clinched a spot in April's NACC Tournament on Wednesday with a win over Concordia University Chicago.
The Eagles will play its final regular season conference match tomorrow, traveling to Lakeland College for a 2:00 p.m. start.
