Ending the game on a 10-0 run enabled the Benedictine University men's basketball team to hang on to the Warden/LaScala Trophy as the winner against area rival North Central by a 67-60 final.
The contest featured four ties and 12 lead changes. North Central only turned the ball over nine times, but it led to 17 points for Benedictine. Benedictine also held a 26-9 edge in fast break points. For the contest the rebounds were even at 47 apiece. Benedictine shot 35.5 percent for the game and connected on six three-pointers.
Cullen Cosme did most of his damage late, leading Benedictine with 15 points. Cosme opened the 10-0 run with a jumper and scored six points during the run including four at the free throw line to seal the win. Benedictine finished 17-of-21 from the line.
Drew Stokes added 14 with
Nick Howard tallying 12 and
Brandon McCoy notching 10.
Benedictine (3-1) opens conference play at Wisconsin Lutheran on November 29.
