After averaging 24.5 points per game along with 8.5 rebounds per contest, Benedictine University men's basketball player
Patrick Mayfield has been selected as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week.
Mayfield helped Benedictine to a pair of needed victories in conference play as the team battles for a conference tournament slot. The Burlington Central graduate shot over 50 percent from the floor and 61 percent from beyond the arc, knocking down 11-of-18 attempts from bonus distance. Mayfield tallied a double-double in a home win over Aurora, scoring 25 points while adding 10 rebounds. The graduate student followed with 24 points and seven boards as Benedictine toppled Lakeland to avenge an early season defeat.
Benedictine (7-13, 6-7 NACC) heads to Edgewood on Wednesday for the first of the final five games of the year.

Patrick Mayfield (Elgin, Ill.) has been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2, 2025, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

Mayfield, a graduate guard, averaged 24.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from behind the arc as Benedictine posted a pair of victories last week. He logged a 25-point, 10-rebound double-double with five 3-pointers in a 75-73 win over Aurora on Jan. 29, then added 24 points behind 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point range and seven rebounds in a 90-76 victory over Lakeland to open February. Mayfield currently leads all NACC players in 3-point field goal percentage and 3-pointers made per game while sitting eighth in overall field-goal percentage and 10th in scoring.
