Mason Named Freshman of the Year; Two from Men's Hoops Named All-Conference

Noah Mason was selected as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year while Tanner Resch and Patrick Mayfield both picked up second team honors as the conference released the awards from the 2024-25 season.

Mason claimed the award despite missing the final seven games of the year. The Oswego East gradate is the second Freshman of the Year under head coach Jordan Townsend (Andrew Stokes). Mason was an electric player before having his season end prematurely. The freshman, who regularly posted game-changing dunks to bring the crowd to their feet, averaged 11.4 points per game and 5.7 rebounds in his first year, making 16 starts in his 18 games played. Mason reached double figures in 10 of those contests including each of the final three games played. The post player eclipsed 20 points twice with a career best 22 at North Central before Thanksgiving. Mason also posted 12 games with five or more rebounds including a career best 14 on January 11 at Concordia Wisconsin.

Resch led the team in scoring in his second season with Benedictine. The senior averaged 17.5 points per game, playing in all 25 games with 24 starts. Resch hit double digits on 22 occasions including eight with 20 or more led by one of the best single game performances in conference and program history when he poured in 38 at Edgewood on February 5. The Sussex, Wis. native fell just two points shy of a triple-double on January 22 against St. Norbert, totaling eight points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Resch ecliped 100 assists on the year to lead the team by almost 70.

Mayfield came to Benedictine for a graduate year after previously playing for Townsend at the University of Dubuque. Mayfield was right behind Resch in scoring at 17 points per game while adding a team best 6.2 rebounds per game. The Burlington Central graduate reached double figures in 20 of his 25 starts including nine straight in the middle of the season and nine of the final 10 contests of the year. Mayfield scored 20 or more 10 times with a season best 31 on January 15 against Dominican. The Elgin, Ill. native was one of the top shooters in the conference and added four double-doubles on the year.

Benedictine finished the year with a record of 9-16.
