Hall of Fame
A long time mathematics teacher at the university, Meehan hand a profound impact on the campus as a student, an educator and a benefactor. Jim joined the faculty at Benedictine in 1971 and continued to volunteer as a math tutor after his retirement in 1998.
For several years, he served as official scorer for the Benedictine men's varsity basketball team. His estate also made a very generous donation to the renovation of the Dan and Ada Rice Center in the fall of 2011. His lifelong interest in team sports began with little league baseball. While at Benedictine as an undergrad, he participated in a variety of intramural sports.
His passion for athletics even included a train ride to North Dakota to support the men's basketball team as a student. The train became stranded due to a blizzard and the game was eventually moved to a different location in Minnesota but his support of Benedictine carried on. Jim loved to travel, especially by train, and during his life visited 49 US states.
