McGarry was an All-American in cross country in 2002, the school's first ever cross country All-American. She holds school records in the 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 meters outdoors along with the indoor record in the 1,500, and 5,000 meters, breaking the marks in 2001 and again in 2002. She was also an outdoor national qualifier. She holds the cross country records for 6,000 meters and the 5K.
